DIY : Fabric Canvas

Do you have any idea how expensive a paint/art/poster can cost you? Saya pengsan tengok harga diorang. Some of them are relatively good, but some are not. I found one that i really like but the price tag of that paint was RM250. Ok. :(

Then I look around my room which now has been converted into a store room. There was my old canvas, and a few old pallets from my mom's old bed frame. I went to buy some print fabric. It was a bit tricky to find a good design print fabric. I did went to SSF Curtain in Batu 3 Shah Alam. The price was not within my budget. The cheapest was RM30 per meter, but it wasn't exactly the material that I'm looking for.

Then I went to Nagoya ( Alam Sentral ) and Tewah ( Tesco Shah Alam ). Still couldn't find it. Went to Sec 13 and I found one fabric store. Stop by and found the fabric that I was looking for. It was RM40 per meter after discount. Not exactly cheap, but I was pretty sure my mom going to love the design.

The old canvas alone was not big enough to stand up on its own.

So I teman kan with these 2 kayu lama and wrapped them with the fabric

Dah Gantung!  p/s: abaikan the room yg tak siap lagi tu. :D

Senang kan?
Buat la fabric canvas anda sendiri. Woot!

Recipe : Pad Ka Prao (Stirred Chicken with Basil)

Entry ini khas untuk kawan Irshad yang minta resepi ni.

The original name of this recipe is Pad Ka Prao, but when I first try this dish, I tend to forget its name. So i named it "BAI KA PAU". Yes, I tend to "buat kepala" (pandai2 reka).

The best Bai Ka Pau that i had ever tried is in Section 14, Petaling Jaya which located inside pasar on level 2. Search for kedai makcik. The BEST bai ka pau ever!. Since then, this has become one of my favorite dishes.

This is my version of Bai Ka Pau

Recipe : Bai Ka Pau

3  fresh Red Chillies
2 whole onions ( Shallots )
Bird eye chillies - i like it spicy.
Garlic - 3 or 4 cloves of garlic should be enough. You dont want it to overpower.
a handful bunch of Thai Basil. (daun selasih)
2 or 3 or 4 spoon of Fish Sauce. - this will distinguish the taste of bai ka pau. lol.
chicken chunks

Pretty much that is all you need for the ingredients.

Step 1

Mash fresh red chillies, onions, bird eye chillies, garlic altogether in mortar.

Step 2

Heat your skillet with oil. Then add all the ingredients in step 1 and stir-fry until its lightly brown .

Step 3

Add the chicken and stir it and let it cook.

Step 4

Add all the seasonings (sugar and fish sauce). Please note that fish sauce is already salty, hence no salt needed.

Step 5

Add in Thai Basil and let it cook for a while. You will smell the fragrance after a while.

Step 6

Check and taste the seasoning. Satisfied? Then you are done! :)

Please note that you can put any amount of the ingredients that you like. If you like it hot, then put more chillies. You may also put a little bit of water if you dont want it to be dry.

Serve it with steamy hot fragrance rice (which is not healthy but tasty) or with basmati rice. Fry a sunny side up egg. Eat it together and you are good to go.

Happy Cooking!

Are you a coffee lover?

I am a sucker for coffee. Both of us are and we can't wait to get our first coffee grinder and maker!
Talking about coffee, starbucks just came up with a starbucks card - in malaysia laa ; other countries dah lama dah. Basically, it works like touch & go. Its a top up card.

This how the card looks like
Just purchase this card at RM20 and you will get the same value of RM20 or you can top up more if you want to. If you are a regular customer of them, then its better for you to get one. You can redeem their 2012 planner if you purchase 12 (or 16 cant remember) of their beverages.

All information about this card can be found here

Once you purchase this card, don't forget to register online.

Once you are registered, you will receive an email from starbucks and you'll get a complimentary coffee voucher from them. Although its only grande, it is still a FREE cup of coffee.

and that is my FREE coffee.

Just so you know, if you have a JUSCO card, give your J card to the barista every time you want to make a payment at starbucks. You will get 10% off. Not many people know about this because they never state about this anywhere ; as far as I'm concern la, correct me if I'm wrong.

Coffee is always a good idea! :)
